Lifesaving Skills at Home

No time for lifesaving CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) classes? Have a party!
The Red Cross will send a certified instructor to your home to teach up to 12 adults–moms, dads, babysitters, neighbors, family, and friends. In about four hours, you'll learn adult, child and infant CPR, as well as abdominal thrusts (the Heimlich maneuver). Attendees get instruction, watch a video, practice on first-aid training mannequins, and take home resource materials for emergencies. Costs are comparable to a class outside your home: $25 to $40 per person, depending on where you live.
To host a CPR party, call your local American Red Cross chapter. You can find it in the phone book or by logging on to
www.redcross.org.
